We've been on the road since Christmas Day. We came home Sunday the 28th from the California trip, and I just had enough time to clean the house and do some laundry before we left again.
Vacation #2 began on Tuesday the 30th. We left as soon as John got off of work and drove the wonderful 6 hours to DFW. We went to visit Sheridan's family, and we had a blast! Sheridan and Doug--and of course their kiddos, Lydia, Melody, and Taylor--were wonderful hosts. They allowed us to stay with them in their massively beautiful home (THANKS AGAIN!!), took us to Six Flags (did I mention it was all free?!?), and let us eat all of their food, drink their sodas, take lots of showers, sleep in their beds, etc. Mainly we just hung out at their house, but it was JUST what we needed. We were relaxed and pampered, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to ring in the new year.
It's crazy to think that Sheridan and I have been friends for over 8 years. For those of you who don't know, she and I met when I was the office manager at a dental office in the DFW area. She and Doug had just married, and she came in to see the dentist. Literally from day one, we hit it off. We've been such good friends ever since that we see each other at least every 6 months. Usually we go to see her in the summer and she and her family come here in the winter. However, this year it worked out that we were able to go there both in the summer and the winter--but I really wish it was more often than it is. I miss them already!
The one cruddy thing about moving away from DFW was leaving Sheridan. I tell you what---she's the kind of chic you want in your life 24/7. Sheri---thanks for being such a wonderful woman in my life. You rock!! :)
The kids had an amazing time just playing the Wii, hanging out, and then getting spoiled rotten at Six Flags. Sheri's kids took them around and rode any and all rides they wanted, fed them, and were just awesome the whole day. That gave John, me, Sheri, and Doug time to ride rides by ourselves and visit with each other.
YES, I did ride some things, but I was being a huge baby and wouldn't do the big ones that John begged me to join him on--you know, things like the Titan and the Superman.
NOT HAPPENING folks.
The whole motion sick thing just doesn't work well with out-of-this-world amusement parks rides. :)
I did, however, get my picture taken with The Flash (a superhero). I'm a dork, I know!
We will definitely be resting and getting back into our routine this week. Who knows--maybe the Christmas decor (as little as there is) will be put away by Monday. Here's hoping!
