The Husband Is Always Right?!?

Today at church (Trinity), Caitlin decided that she wanted to come to "big church" and stay with us. We explained that it could possibly be boring, but she was willing to go anyway. We had a guest speaker today and he had a great message. He preached on grace, which was very interesting.
At one point, he was comparing the Law of the Old Testament to an overbearing husband who was always right. He explained that Christians who still live under the Law are constantly worried and have performance anxiety when it comes to everyday life. When Jesus came, he gave us a way out of that "marriage" to the Law---we could live under grace and have that as our new husband. Make sense? :)
So let's fast forward to Chili's after church. As we were unloading the kids from the car, I stayed in my seat a minute longer to rearrange the diaper bag. John said something about me needing to hurry up, and I shot back some smart-elec comment. Caitlin piped up out of the back seat:
"Momma, remember what the preacher said. The husband is ALWAYS right!"
John patted her on the back and said, "Way to go Cait! I knew there was a reason we brought you to big church today. See what you've learned!"
Sheesh! I have a feeling Caitlin will be going back to her own church service next Sunday! :)

Wait until the sermon on "husbands love your wives and give yourself up for them even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for her." Then you always get your way...
