Not Friends

I love to sew---no news there. It is really a passion of mine. I love the moments when the house is quiet, the children are in bed, and John is studying. That is when I do my best work. I am sure no matter where life takes me I will be toting my sewing machine.
Today has taught me something. I HATE zippers. We are definitely NOT friends. Zippers are the biggest pain in the rump I have ever encountered.
This discovery came when I decided to be thrifty and make a sleep sack for Caroline instead of ponying up the money for one. It's about 1/2 the price to make one, so it only made sense to do so. John, the kids, and I went to the store last night and picked out the fleece. I had already decided that I would use snaps at the shoulders, but John gave me this big lecture about trying a zipper instead. He convinced me that it would be super easy and well worth it.
Hmph to him!
I found a free pattern on the internet, followed the directions carefully, and sewed the sleep sack. I then proceeded to add the zipper. Let's just say it's a good thing this "creation" is staying within the confining walls of the Haskell house.
It's cute and all, but MAN!!! NO MORE ZIPPERS FOR THIS GAL! :)
PS: If you don't know what a sleep sack is, it's the greatest idea since...well...I don't know what! It's a sack made of fleece that zips up the front and the baby wears it over the top of her pajamas instead of being covered up by a bunch of blankets. They can't wiggle out of it, thus staying much warmer at night. What prompted me to make it is Caroline has been up about 4 times a night for the past few COLD nights...she wiggled out from underneath her blankets and was icy cold. There you have it.

That sounds like a great idea! Let me know how it works. I can't imagine how hard it would be to sew a zipper. Wait a minute, I find it hard to just simply sew! Ha Ha. Have a great week.

Tell John the next zipper you install will have something to do with both his lips... Snaps are JUST FINE! ;-) Love those sleep sacks though.
