Recovering

For those of you that know about my dad (and even for those who don't), his surgery was a huge success! Originally, the doctor thought he'd have to remove up to 6 inches of his small and large intestine combined, as well as his appendix and surrounding lymph nodes. The doctor found a mass near the appendix about 2 weeks ago during a routine screening--the mass was the size of a ping pong ball. Amazingly, the doctor didn't have to do half of what he thought he would. Instead, my dad had what is called a "radical appendectomy." The doctor only removed the appendix and a small piece of surrounding intestine along with the mass. Also, the mass was found to still be benign, so PRAISE GOD that it had not turned cancerous!
Thank you all for your prayers and support during this time. My dad continues to be blessed through this process--no cancer and a much less complicated surgery. I couldn't ask for more! :)

I am so glad your dad's surgery was so successful. It is so hard when a parent is facing something so scary. I will continue to keep you guys in my prayers.
