very aMAZEing!

Mom found something very cool here in Amarillo--it's a CORN MAZE (or maize maze if you like that sort of thing lol). There was a story about it in the newspaper, and it looked so cool that we couldn't resist going. On Friday evening, Mom, me, my aunt Jamie, Caitlin, Christian, and Caroline all piled in the mom mobile and headed out there. Let me say it was truly amazing! There were about 4 students up on deer stands throughout the maze to help if you got lost (which we did), and you had to pick a "passport" before you entered that had questions that you had to answer in order to find your way around. There were 10 stations, a cool bridge with a slide, LOTS of corn, funny signs, a cow train, a pumpkin patch, a mini-maze made out of hay for toddlers, live farm animals, a corn cannon, and refreshments. It was a ton of fun---but if you go, remember to take mosquito repellent. We got eaten alive! :) Here are some pics from the trip. I highly recommend it!
A funny story from the adventure:
When we got lost and couldn't find the #6 station, we asked one of the girls up on a deer stand to help us out. I asked her which way to go, and she said, "I don't know. Hold on and I'll ask." She radioed someone else in the maze and then told us to go back a few rows and make a right. We did what she said, but in 5 minutes, we were right back by her stand...at a dead end. As we were turning around AGAIN, I said, "Hey! That wasn't the right way!" All she could say was "Oops." :) I lost all confidence in the people on the deer stands at that point and made sure I had the map in front of me at all times to be able to get out!
Every few minutes, Christian would pipe up and say, "I'm never gonna get out of here!" or "I want to get out!" It took us about an hour, but we finally made it.
Signs like this were posted throughout
Christian, Mom, Jamie, and Caitlin in the corn
A girl on the deer stand offered to take a group pic--it turned out cute!
A long stretch of the maze--the corn kept getting taller
Caitlin & Christian on the cow train
Another cow train pic--we didn't get to do the pumpkin patch this time because it got too dark-next time!
This is a pic from the newspaper of what the maze looks like. It's design is the WT buffalo.
